New Book to read?

Post  Droxia on Sat Oct 04, 2008 2:10 am

A few weeks back I just finished the book "Anansi Boys" by Neil Gaiman and I wouldn't mind reading something different. Anyone have any suggestions? I wouldn't mind some sort of Sci-Fi adventure that doesn't get TOO techy.

Graphic Novels can count also Razz

Cryptonomicon and The Diamond Age are both good.

The Chronicles of the Black Company by Glen Cook. I'd never heard of it before but was in Books a Million during the summer, saw it in the sci-fi section, and decided it looked interesting. The Chronicles is the first three books together in one book. It's about this group of mercs called the Black Company who have been around for hundreds of years. They don't care about politics or who's right or wrong, they care about fulfilling contracts they have. They end up taking a contract for this character similar to Sauron from LOTR's. It's kinda like D&D or something like that, but it's not like NERDY fiction. I really enjoyed it, lots of action and the ending was like "oh my gee!" Here's an Amazon link to it: Chronicles of the Black Company

This is the next series of three books, Books of the South, that I'm currently reading.

So far a good start, although maybe I should have excluded 40k since I think I drowned myself into Games Workshop and their products for who knows how long.

which is why I'm staying away from Warhammer...
